I want to begin a series of CB communication exercises to test its viability during a SHTF situation. I would like to explore it use during Bugging-out, survival communication, information sharing, broadcasting sit reps, contacting help and simply providing a point of contact for those left isolated.
Field Day will be designed to test operators' abilities to
set up and operate portable stations under emergency conditions such as the
loss of electricity.
Not only will these field days be a serious test of skill, I
hope for individuals and groups alike it will become a social occasion too.
During the field day/weekend, participants try to contact as
many other participating Field Day stations as possible.
Field Day planning includes site plan, antenna erection,
portable power sources, equipment installation, shelter, food, public awareness
as well as training and exercise operations.
I think that by combining survival training and bugging out
practice with CB radio communication tests it will provide an interesting new
concept here in the UK.
